It's Bruichladdich's Octomore 11.3 expression right here, folks! This particular edition was made with barley grown on Islay by James Brown at the Octomore Farm, which is exposed to the coastal breeze of the Atlantic Ocean. After distillation, it was allowed to matured for five years in first-fill American whiskey casks, including ones from Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, Buffalo Track and Jack Daniel's. As ever for the Octomore series, this is a heavily peated stuff, weighing in at a hefty 194 PPM. Read more.

Description
Bruichladdich is based on the utterly wonderful Hebridean isle of Islay and is incredibly proud of it too, promoting much of this Island and what it has to offer on their website. All their whiskies use only Scottish Barley (it’s called Scotch for a reason as they say) and are born and created to reflect the character and history of Islay. Their presentation is cracking too.
Tasting Notes
Soft vanilla and apricot arrive first, with the smoke slowly building, becoming savoury the longer it goes on.

Rob Roy Cocktail Recipe
If there was ever a cocktail to make you feel the glitz and glamour of the history and chic society of New York, it's ordering a Rob Roy Cocktail. This 19th century cocktail is believed to have been created at New York City’s Waldorf Hotel (if you want to visit today, you can head to the Waldorf Astoria). But who is Rob Roy? The cocktail is named not after the Scottish folk hero and outlaw Robert Roy MacGregor, but after the Broadway show that was showing at the time. The Rob Roy is a riff on a Manhattan, with their only difference being the base liquor. A Rob Roy is made using blended Scotch Whisky while a Manhattan is made with Rye Whisky. As such, the cocktail is malty and smooth, with a bit of spice on the finishing end.
