The essence of Plantation Rum Original Dark is the wealth of its palate and its technique of double aging. Plantation Original Dark comprises the elegant rums of Trinidad which are distilled then aged in their tropical climate in the Caribbean in American oak barrels under high heat before traveling to France. Once in Europe, the House cellar master decides on less high esters for the Trinidadian rum and blends in old rums from Jamaica (15 - 20 yrs.) This end result finishes like sweet nectar but also adapts beautifully to classic cocktails made with dark rum such as the Mai Tai or Daiquiri. Read more.

Plantation Rum is the brain child of one Alexandre Gabriel whose initial interest in distillation and spirits can be found in Cognac at Maison Ferrand. Having re-established what was a flagging house he was gripped by the bug of making superb, artisanal spirits. Some 10 years later Alexandre felt equally inspired by the Caribbean and its Rum. In creating Plantation Rums he sourced some of the best Rum Barrels to be found and set about becoming an expert in Rum creation. You can feel the dedication in every bottle.

Dark & Stormy Cocktail Recipe
Fans of the Moscow Mule, this one’s for you. The Dark ’n Stormy is a delicious, easy-to-make cocktail that features a refreshing trio of dark rum, ginger beer and lime, and it also goes down a lot easier than the name might imply. This popular cocktail is now found all over the world, but can be traced back to the island of Bermuda. Fun fact, it’s still Bermuda's national drink today! It was sailors who first enjoyed mixing rum with the stomach settling ginger ale, and technically a real Dark & Stormy can only be made with Bermuda’s own Gosling’s Black Seal Rum, with notes of caramel, vanilla and spice. However, if you’re simply looking to whip the best Dark & Stormy cocktail recipe up at home, feel free to use any dark rum (we’re not telling anyone!). Note that ginger ale is not a substitute for ginger beer. Ginger ale is just carbonated water that’s flavoured with ginger, like a soda. Ginger beer, on the other hand, is brewed and fermented and this will benefit your Dark & Stormy. We also call for a modest measure of lime juice, but feel free to add more if it suits your taste. Get mixing and set sail!
