Wine of character is a term often thrown around it seems to me when it appears to be more led by the desire of a marketing team than an actual description of the wine or indeed the winery itself. Here, though, you have the real deal. David Swift Phinney is the man behind what ends up as an unforgettable wine in your glass. The name Orin Swift is actually a combination of his father’s middle name and his mother’s maiden name.
Expansive aromas of ripe red fruits- raspberries, cherries and strawberries and ab touch of Boysen and huckleberries open the nose. The aromas continue onto the palate with added layers of charred meat, rhubarb, thyme, surrounding a dark fruit core. Smooth, enveloping and lasting, the wine finishes with a pleasing maraschino cherry note.
