Description
Hofbräu Winterzwickl is a seasonal dark cellar beer from Hofbräu München, brewed from late October to mid January. It is unfiltered and bottom fermented, with light, Munich and caramel malts giving it a lovely dark brown colour. Expect soft caramel and chocolate, a smooth malty body and spicy hints of orange, cedar and black pepper from Perle and Herkules hops.
At 5.5% it is rich enough for winter but still easy to drink. Bring it out for Christmas parties and cold Sunday afternoons. Serve at 8 to 10°C with a plate of roast pork and crackling.
