Tasting Notes
In 2018 Hawkshead commissioned a new £3m+ Krones Brewkit and new Brewery Site near Grange over Sands predominantly brewing their Core Beer range and Staveley Ð concentrating on small batch specialist, limited edition beers, including expansion of the sour and barrel ageing projects in their new barrel store. Head Brewer Matt Clarke has guided the brewery since 2006 and continues to push brewing boundaries at both sites.
Beer From The Lakes. The range includes classic ales and bitters, refreshing lagers, IPAs and pale ales, distinctive sours and wheat beers as well as rich porters and stouts. Available to buy online in bottles and cans. Based in the heart of the English Lake District, Hawkshead brews bold, innovative beers inspired both by flavoursome hops of the new world and classic European styles.

Whisky Sour Recipe
The Whisky Sour is versatile – whether you decide to switch up the Whisky, sour or sweet element, the end result will almost always be delicious – just remember to stick to that golden ratio of 2 parts Whisky, 1 part sour and 1 part sweet (but hey, if your personal preference is different, you do you!). If you’re after something sweeter, bourbon or brandy are both great options. Prefer a smokier sour? A scotch will be your go-to.When it comes to the sour substitution, lime is a more subtle option if you find lemon too overpowering, alternatively you can opt for a sweeter pick like orange or a more savoury choice like grapefruit. And when it comes to the egg white and no egg white debate, well, it’s completely up to you!
