Domaine des Marrans

Domaine des Marrans is located in the northernmost part of Beaujolais, within Fleurie, the well-known Cru Beaujolais appellation. Wines from Fleurie are known for being light, supple, and smooth, and Domaine des Marrans is no exception. Under the guidance of Mathieu Mélinan, the domaine - founded in the 1970s - keeps getting better with every vintage. The Gamay grown around here is clear and expressive; some of the character comes from the granite-based soil, some from the old vines, and some from the old-school vinification techniques.

What impresses us the most about Domaine des Marrans’ Beaujolais is the freshness and length of the fruity notes, with some floral deliciousness topping things off. At the Bottle Club, you can buy the seductive Domaine des Marrans Fleurie for an easygoing evening drink, or their Chiroubles Vieilles Vignes Gama0 - a deeper, fuller expression - to accompany your main course. Of course you could always go for both and compare them side by side. It’s a win-win situation.
