The Convalmore distillery building still stands to this day, proud and silent, in Dufftown, Speyside, a location long regarded as the beating heart of Scotch Whisky production. When blended Scotch Whiskey took the world by storm in the 19th century, Speyside was the home to more than 70% of all Scottish distilleries. Inevitably, many fell by the wayside over the coming century. As such, Convalmore Whisky forms part of a cast of ghosts, alongside other extinct players like Parkmore and Imperial.
The Scotch itself is bountifully redolent with the tastes and aromas of the bakery; pastry, almond and brown sugar. Subtle citrus, green stone fruit, and gentle spice round off an exceptionally well-balanced palate. Distilled in 1984, this batch was finally bottled in 2017, at cask strength.
