Hennessy is one of the oldest houses to hail from Cognac, dating back as far as 1765 when set up by the Irishman Richard Hennessy. To this day they hold some of the oldest and rarest reserves of eaux de vie which means that they can produce pieces of sublime magic such as this.
Utterly beguiling. The spicy & crystallized fruit fragrances invade the palate in a masterly fashion. This intensity, this strength of taste in the mouth develops slowly, & releases a bouquet of aromas whose complexity & finesse are more difficult to pin down than those sensed by aroma. Nothing disappears, everything comes forth bit by bit, aromas take their place & organize themselves in a silky harmony with a long-lasting taste on the palate. When you consider that over 100 Eau de vie aged between 2o and 120 years old you realise that you have a little piece of history in your glass.
