About this cocktail
Every great cocktail has a secret weapon — the one ingredient nobody expects, hiding in plain sight until someone spills it. This series is all about those moments: the raised eyebrow, the "wait, what's actually in this?", the reveal that changes everything. Some are genius. Some are unhinged. All of them taste better than they have any right to.
First up: the ingredient that divides a nation. Love it or hate it, Marmite has no business being this good in a Bloody Mary — but the umami hit is exactly what's been missing from yours all along. Mix it in before anyone's watching, then enjoy the face they make when you tell them what's inside.
Method
- Rim a tall glass with celery salt.
- Mix Marmite with lemon juice in the shaker until dissolved.
- Add vodka, tomato juice, Worcestershire sauce and hot sauce with ice. Roll gently — don't shake hard.
- Strain over fresh ice.
- Garnish with celery, lemon wedge and a pickle.
Ingredients
- 50ml vodka
- 120ml tomato juice
- 15ml fresh lemon juice
- 10ml Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tsp Marmite
- ½ oz of Hot sauce (tabasco)
- 1 tsp celery salt
