Tasting Notes

A fresh, chardonnay-based aperitif style wine with a deliciously crisp palate and a lingering nutty finish. The wine is aged for 2 years in bottle before making its way to us. Incidentally this is longer than the legal limit in Champagne.

One of the first five wineries established in Marlborough, Cloudy Bay is located at the northern end of New Zealand's South Island in the Marlborough wine growing region. It is the largest and most significant of the NZ grape growing region producing 50% of the annual crop.Long sunny days and cool clear nights provide ideal conditions during the growing season and meticulous vineyard management ensures optimum ripeness and flavour profiles are achieved. The soils on the floor of the Wairau Valley are free-draining and nutrient-rich, with extensive underground aquifers providing high quality irrigation water.
