One of the 1st wineries to bring Western Australian wines to our attention. The winery is a winner of many awards down the years and was originally set up by David Hohnan who later went on to set up Cloudy Bay in New Zealand with Kevin Judd. This blend is inspired by the classic red wines of Bordeaux than anything 'New World' and the cool breezes emanating off the coast a mere couple of kilometres away from the vineyards ensure their wines are less full and less instantly intense even typically Australian than other regions from this fascinating country.
An elegant blend, with Merlot adding softness to the firmer Cabernet Sauvignon. The fine tannin backbone is supported by concentrated berry fruits and vanillia oak, resulting in a satisfying, mellow red wine.
